Today marks a celebration in the PP team, with Louise Reid celebrating 5 years in the business as our very own Amsterdam Rec2Rec! Louise joined the company as a consultant back in 2019, running the London desk successfully. Fast forward a couple of years, and a global pandemic, Louise made the move over to Amsterdam
August 2013 saw the launch of Permanent People as a Rec2Rec. Like all new businesses, our plan was to change the world of recruitment. In reality, those first few months, saw us finding our feet and realise the importance of putting money in the bank. Back then, we started of recruiting mainly for the South

We thought a great way to get to know the team at Permanent People a bit better, would be to ask some questions to give you an insight into what makes us tick!! Starting off with Louise Reid who heads up our Amsterdam office: What do you do for Permanent People?
2013 started out as fairly rudimentary one, as years go, for me. I was in a job that was fine and safe but going nowhere really. A few things happened along the way. but culminated in me coming up with the bright idea to go out on my own and start my own recruitment business.
Dubai is arguably one of the most innovative cities in the world and is home to over 200 nationalities. We have a number of clients based out in Dubai who actively look for recruitment professionals to relocate. So whether you’re firmly planning on relocating to Dubai, weighing up the pros and cons or simply satisfying
Cardiff City Centre is home to numerous historical arcades scattered throughout the main high streets. It’s easy to get lost (in more than one way!) in the beauty and quirkiness of the arcades, with its cobbled streets bearing some of the most interesting, creative and delicious places to visit in all of Cardiff. Today, Permanent People turns 13.
Apparently, that means we’re now officially a teenager.
So, I’m expecting slightly more attitude, questionable fashion choices and for nobody to listen to a word I say.
When I started the business in 2013, I certainly didn’t have a detailed 13-year plan.
The aim was fairly simple: build a good recruitment business, work with people I liked and do things in a way that felt right.
Over the years, Permanent People has grown and changed more than I could have imagined.
We’ve gone from being predominantly UK-focused to placing recruiters across Europe, the USA, Australia, Asia, the Middle East and South Africa.
We’ve built relationships with more than hundreds of recruitment businesses.
We’ve helped recruiters move sectors, step into leadership roles, relocate across the world and, in some cases, completely change the direction of their lives.
We’ve also remained profitable in every year we’ve traded, including Covid and several recruitment markets that could politely be described as “character-building”.
And we’ve built a name and brand for ourselves beyond what I could ever imagined.
But the part I’m proudest of is the way we’ve grown.
We’re still a small, close-knit team.
We still care about getting the right outcome rather than simply making the quickest placement.
And we’ve never tried to become something we’re not.
A huge amount of the credit goes to @louisecooperreid, @loveshoes1981 and @beelong83 who have helped shape Permanent People into the business it is today.
There have been brilliant years, difficult years and a few months when I’ve refreshed the company bank account more often than was probably healthy.
But 13 years later, I still genuinely enjoy what we do.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has worked with us, trusted us with their career, introduced us to somebody or simply supported the business along the way.
Permanent People is now entering its teenage years.
Wish me luck.
p.s. Just had a placement confirmed for a recruiter in Houston, if you’d told me that 13 years ago I’d of questioned what you were drinking!
