Officially voted as one of the top 20 best places to live in the UK, Exeter is a quaint yet rapidly expanding city in the South West. Although Exeter is thought to be a relatively small and traditional city, it is close to beautiful coastline, national parks and vast countryside, as well as having excellent transport links to Bristol, Devon, Plymouth and the M5 corridor, and an international airport.

The city itself boasts quaint architecture, cobblestone streets and an 800-year-old cathedral, with an abundance of independent shops, alongside big branded, high-street stores. This quirky, historic city is situated on the River Exe where you can enjoy sitting beside the river in many bars and restaurants. With a relaxed vibe, Exeter has all the positives of a big city with the close-knit feeling of a town!

Exeter has a thriving student community and one of the UK’s leading Russell Group Universities. It is also an excellent location for outdoor sports, including water sports and has a competitive football and rugby team. It is a diverse city with plenty on offer for those interested in music and the arts. With a low crime rate and excellent schools, Exeter is a sought-after place to get on to the property ladder as property is more reasonable than some of the larger cities.

There has been a recent buzz about business development in Exeter, with a real focus around the recruitment industry. As the industry continues to flourish, there has been a growing demand for recruiters. The recruitment industry is no longer bound to the big cities, and this shift to the South West means that the market is changing. Today marks Permanent People`s 11th year in business, a milestone we`re very proud of.

Since we opened our doors back in 2013, we`ve been through lots of ups and downs, learned a lot and developed some great relationships throughout the recruitment industry.

We now operate across the globe, and have helped lots of recruiters find their new roles over the years. Some are now clients, others have relocated to a new country and we`ve also seen people get married and grow their families, which has been great to see!

The way we`ve always wanted Permanent People to be, is to take things personally and care about the people we work with, and we`re extra proud that this still runs through our DNA today.

If we treat people as we would want to be treated, give great service and actually, genuinely care about what we do - then I believe this is what has set us apart over the years.

Personally and professionally, this year has been a tough one, so we`re really glad to have a great team in place that have been able to support each other and get on with things!

A company is only as good as the people that work within it, so on that basis, with Gemma Hill, Beth Long and Louise Reid in place, we are a world class business, and I`m very lucky to work with all 3 of them.
