Social Media?

Do you use social media to find work? It would be interesting to see if it is a viable format to search for such an important part of people’s lives.

I think people still use traditional media such as job boards, press and word-of-mouth but there is a growing trend in today’s world where job seekers are trawling through Twitter and Facebook to see what companies are doing and what they’re recruiting for.

Generally, I think both of these are mainly used to promote company news and events but placing jobs on them does raise awareness and helps drive traffic to your site which, in-turn, gives visitors a chance to see what you’re recruiting for.

The obvious exception to this is Linked In. Recruiters flood their pages with vacancies and it is fast becoming the first place to look for a new position, maybe whilst your still employed else where. I think it’s a great platform to interact with other professionals and talk about the current market etc. I personally have built up many strong relationships through this channel and it’s helped grow contacts throughout the UK giving people a chance to speak with each other when it was previously difficult to do so.

Anyway, it would be good to hear from you about what social media you use and why you use it? PR
